I litteraly fell in love with this huge and big mare. Athena is described by one word; impressive! I rarely saw such a powerful body combined to extreme feminity. A very successful show horse as a youngster Athena would have been also a National quality western horse for sure. Her fabulous paces, conformation with strong hip and wonderful mind are very precious for our program.
Athena’s sire is the polish bred stallion Gold Krugerand. Multiple decorated stallion in Park Horse, he’s also the full brother of the mare Bask Calonette who was US National Champion mare in 1983. Gold Krugerand is a tall and very elegant chestnut stallion. His sire is Cal O Bask one of the best sons of Bask well known as the sire of the fairytale horse Caleyndar who appears in many artists books. Cal O Bask’s dam is Susecion, the only Arabian mare in history to have produced 2 double National Champion mares and a son who produced a National champion mare. Susecion sire is the polish stallion Corsair and her dam is Cancion de Los Ventos. Susecion was a polish and CMK bred mare, bought for 2500 dollars! And she made history in the breeding barn !
Susecion produced a total of 13 offspring including the great Le Fire and Baskafire who are full brothers of Cal O Bask. Le Fire is certainly among the very very best sons of his legendary father.
The dam line of Gold Krugerand does have another line to Bask through the sire of his dam : Bask Tez, an impressive dark bay stallion who was champion in halter, English pleasure and Park. He produced National and Regional champions. A very fine sire for sure.
The dam line goes to Ferseyn and does have 3 crosses to the foundation stallion Skowronek.
The sire line of Athena comes from the best of the most important foundations lines worldwide. That’s very important for us for her breeding abilities in our program.
Athena’s sire is very interesting but her dam line is also wonderful Her own mother Lilique++ is a multiple champion mare being the recipient of a legion of Merit award. That grey mare born in 1979 is really outstanding. Her sire needs no introduction being maybe the most cherished stallion bred in America. Khemosabi++++// was born in 1967 and died in 2001, during his long life he produced more than 1200 foals in USA, many of them have been champions ( more than 300 ) and among them 75 have been Nationally decorated in various disciplines. Khemosabi++++// was himself US National Champion Stallion in 1973, in 1976 he made history being US National Champion AND Canadian National Champion in western pleasure and Canadian National champion Stallion ! Khemosabi++++// achieved the Legion of Master award, something rarely obtained in the Arabian horse history.
Khemosabi++++// was known for his extreme beauty, his dark bay coat with flashy marking made him unmistakable on the rings and his left his mark on many of his offspring. Athena does show her grandsire influence with her perfect conformation, bay color and four white socks.
Khemosabi’s sire Amerigo was a son of Ferseyn, already in Athena’s pedigree on her sire line. Amerigo’s dam was a pure polish mare.
Khemosabi’s dam is one of the most respected Arabian mare ever. Jurneeka++ was US National Top 10 mare, US National reserve champion in English Pleasure, US National reserve champion in western pleasure and 2 times Canadian Top 10 mare. She won a Legion of Merit. Jurneeka++ was herself sired by the fabulous Fadjur one of the most influent stallion in America. The foundation sire line of the Jack Tone Ranch in California. The dam of Jurneeka, Fadneeka, half sister of Fadjur, produced 4 champions including Jurneeka full sister who was also a National Champion. What a dynasty !
Well, last part of Athena’s pedigree is Lilique++ dam the great SX Geniis Pride+++ born in 1969 that fabulous grey mare won the Legion of Supreme honor with her outstanding show results. She was a daughter of the famous Serafix imported from UK in 1954 he produced more than 30 National winners and his daughters are just priceless mares like SX Geniis Pride+++ or SX La Quinta who was US National reserve champion mare and great grand dam of our Shamilah Samsara!
SX Geniis Pride+++ mother is also a treasure of the breed, this is Indian Genii by Natez son of the legendary Witez II. Indian Genii was the 1967 US National Champion mare and dam of 6 champions.
No need to say that with such a family Athena is outstanding. She comes from a mare family of world class quality as ALL the mares in the first 2 generations have produced champions at the highest level, something which is just fabulous!
Athena has already proved herself as a wonderful producer, we can’t wait to see the next ones!

A legend on his own, one of the best!
